DRSL signs up for two more years with WordWave

New Zealand’s Disputes Resolution Services Ltd (DRSL) is extending its contract with WordWave International for another two years – from June 2006 to July 2008.

The contract, which was originally agreed in 2002, has already been rolled forward once. Under the terms of the agreement, WordWave provides a comprehensive service to DRSL, including transcribing Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) hearings that are challenged in the District Court of New Zealand. WordWave also provides transcripts of DRSL reviewers’ dictated decisions, on an ad hoc basis.

Says Paul King, DRSL’s Manager, Client and Business Development: “We’re delighted to be renewing our contract with WordWave. Over the last four years, it has helped us not just maintain but also improve our performance, though its effective management and monitoring systems and innovative technical support.”

“WordWave’s rapid turn round of transcripts has enabled us to hit deadlines 100 per cent of the time, compared with just 80 per cent when we produced them in house,” he continues. “We’ve also been able to control our costs better, and maintain our margins, as well as ensure that transcripts used in court are of a consistently high standard.”

DRSL was founded in 1999 and has offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Its role is to independently review the decisions of the ACC, which manages New Zealand’s accident compensation scheme. Anyone who is unhappy with an ACC decision can appeal, via DRSL.

But DRSL also offers mediation and facilitation services to any organisation that needs to resolve an issue with its employees, customers, suppliers or business associates.

Karen Thorns, General Manager of WordWave’s New Zealand office says: “We’ve developed an excellent working relationship with DRSL. Together, we’ve created a model for providing transcription services that other similar organisations can also benefit from. It’s been a real team effort, and I look forward to building on our success over the next two years.”

WordWave’s Christchurch office co-ordinates a network of home based, highly skilled transcribers working on projects from the UK (including those requiring overnight turn round), as well as for clients in the Asia/Pacific region.
