Merrill invited to HR Leaders Forum

In November, Merrill’s Media and Corporate Communications (“MCC”) team attended the prestigious Human Resources Leaders Forum at The Belfry Hotel in Oxfordshire. Senior HR Managers and Directors from a large number of organisations attended the forum to take part in seminars and workshops on a wide range of human resources topics.

MCC exhibited its Human Resources Note-taking packages which offer various service solutions to HR Managers. By using its transcription expertise, Merrill can provide either a verbatim or summary official record of important HR meetings, in particular, grievance and disciplinary hearings and union meetings, all of which must be accurately recorded . Whilst transcription is a traditional part of the legal world, it is a newer concept for HR meetings and the forum was a great opportunity to introduce the idea to HR professionals, many of whom were unaware that such a service was available to them. The majority of delegates that we spoke to agreed that note-taking took up a lot of their time and they would be interested in outsourcing their note-taking function to allow proceedings to be dealt with more quickly and efficiently by freeing them to concentrate on other aspects of the job rather than having to spend time taking and processing notes of meetings.

These views are shared by one of our new clients - Employee Relations, Royal Bank of Canada: "Royal Bank of Canada has been using the HR services provided by Merrill Legal Solutions since August 2008. We noticed that the burden relating to taking and typing notes of disciplinary, grievance and other employment related meetings was becoming increasingly cumbersome and we decided to trial their service. Since we started using the typing service the situation has dramatically improved. Not only the participants to the meetings can now fully concentrate on the issues that are being discussed without having to interrupt the conversation in order to provide time to the note taker to "catch up", but also the duration of the meetings has substantially reduced, saving managers' time.”
