Kathmandu adventure for Merrill reporters
The job was to cover a three day arbitration hearing concerning a dispute between the contractor and a Nepalese Government body involved in Phase 1 of the Sunsari Morang Irrigation III Project.
Our reporters had their work cut out for them, not only did they have to report all day on the proceedings but they also had to produce hard copies for the client each evening. This sounds reasonably straight forward, but the hotel printer/photocopier was not the most modern and had to be hand-fed a page at a time – with the hotel kindly assisting in the production line.
Kate Wyllie, Merrill’s Business Development Manager for Asia says, “This was a complex matter with 17 heads of claim to be covered. We are very proud of the way our reporters were willing to take on the challenge of travelling to Nepal and providing an excellent service under less than perfect circumstances.”
Our client, Gordon Jaynes, one of the arbitrators, had this to say, “I wanted to let you know your reporters were outstanding in their service to our hearing in Kathmandu. Not only was their work product excellent, but they were most pleasant to work with and if, as seems likely, we face further hearings in the arbitration, I hope that we can use them in future.”
