Merrill wins major contract with Greater London Authority

The responsibilities of the GLA and the Mayor of London cover not only the economic, environmental and security strategies that will underwrite the future development of London, but also its rich cultural diversity, its health and its immense attraction for visitors from every part of the world. The London Assembly conducts much of its business through formal public meetings and investigative committees. The Assembly examines the Mayor’s activities and questions him about his decisions. Certain meetings of the Assembly are transcribed, namely, meetings where formal evidence is taken and meetings where the Mayor is questioned. Merrill Legal Solutions is contracted to provide a logger to attend and record the proceedings of these meetings and to provide accurate, largely verbatim transcripts within 72 hours following a meeting. With an estimated 80 to 100 such meetings a year, this is a significant contract for Merrill Legal Solutions over the next three years. To date, Merrill Legal Solutions has transcribed 17 meetings and the feedback from the GLA so far has been very positive.
