Merrill Legal Solutions Pioneers Remote Speech to Text Service
Our remote Speech to Text service has recently proved to be an invaluable solution for a hearing impaired student attending University in Paris. We were asked to provide regular communication support for a series of architecture lectures and seminars across a three month period with three sessions per week. To guarantee continuity of service, Merrill Legal Solutions allocated one Speech to Text reporter to cover the entire programme.
Ariela Katz, the Director of the Program, expounded: "Merrill Legal Solutions has been providing remote and on site speech-to-text services for a hearing impaired student in our architecture programme in Paris this semester. Over the past two months and at every step along the way Merrill's staff members -- sales representative, IT support staff and, of course, stenographer -- have been extremely responsive. Sales and IT support staff have helped develop a remote system that would work to provide long-distance English language stenography, working with our office to set up the necessary systems and solve technical problems. Sales and stenography staff have adapted easily to our Program’s and our student’s changing schedules, as well as to the need to be present on site under specific circumstances. Most importantly, the stenographer has managed to provide high quality speech-to-text services and carefully reviewed transcripts in the unfamiliar domain of architectural history and design. Our student tells me that in his three years of University study he has never seen such precise transcripts. It is for these reasons that I am very impressed with the professionalism of Merrill's staff, and deeply appreciative of the help that they have provided to our student."
Sarah Lowe, Merrill’s Business Director (Media, Broadcasting and Communications division) said: “We are thrilled that we were able to step in and provide this crucial communication support service for a hearing impaired student. Our STT service enabled the student to gain word for word access to all that was spoken in lectures. We offered the client our remote STT service which eliminated the need for additional travel and subsistence costs and guaranteed a cost effective and timely service start up every single time.”
