New Zealand Transcriber Conference

From 8 to 10 February this year, Merrill Legal Solutions, New Zealand, held their first ever Transcriber Conference. The conference took place at Lincoln University, just outside Christchurch, and was attended by 57 transcribers from New Zealand and Australia, being almost 80% of our pool of transcribers.

The theme of the conference was “Professionalism at Home” and in addition to the various style training sessions, there were guest speakers on Professionalism, Occupational Health & Safety and Inland Revenue issues. As all the transcribers are based at home, and often in rural areas, it was a great opportunity for them to meet each other, their team leaders and office staff.

Jayne Perry and Caroline Woodman attended the conference from our UK office and Jayne observed: “The feedback from the conference has been overwhelmingly positive and it has proven to be a great motivator for transcribers starting new style training.”

Here are just a few of the feedback comments:-

“I think overall the conference is a great idea – made me feel a part of a terrific team of special women and proud to work for Merrill. I would be quite happy with the same again.”

“A resounding success that everyone has got a lot out of. Informative and gave us an opportunity to discuss issues.”

“Training and personal contact is invaluable.”
