WordWave extends courts martials service
Under the terms of the agreement, WordWave will supply transcripts of the courts martials (armed forces disciplinary hearings), usually with a five-day turnaround, but in some cases overnight.
WordWave has been the official provider of transcription services at army, navy and air force courts martials in the UK for the last three years. In February 2005 it teamed up with Sky News for the first-ever live broadcast of a transcript of court proceedings under UK jurisdiction, providing the official record at the courts martial of three soldiers accused of abusing Iraqi detainees at the so-called ‘Camp Breadbasket’.
The company has also recently won the contract to provide stenography and transcription for the Irish court service, at criminal and some civil proceedings both in Dublin and the provinces.
Says Business Development Manager Annette O’Sullivan: “Since opening our Dublin office almost a year ago our Irish operation has gone from strength to strength. The collaboration with the Department of Defence is particularly exciting as it gives us the chance to build on our experience in the UK, adapting our services to suit the specific needs of the Irish armed forces.”
