Why use Captioning and Subtitling International (CSI)?
With over 500 subtitlers and broadcast stenographers, we are the most fully resourced provider in the market place with the ability to produce hundreds of hours of regular weekly captioning and also the flexibility to react to last minute ad hoc captioning requests if schedules change or urgent commissions are required. We can support large scale projects for major broadcasters and also cater for smaller, individual one off concerns for production companies, training videos, and web casts etc.
How does it work?
Live subtitling - Our highly skilled broadcast stenographers produce real-time subtitles which match the audio word-for-word during a live programme. These stenographers complete intensive training on captioning techniques and styles and are required to perform at live accuracy rates of at least 98 per cent. Captioning and Subtitling International’s live subtitling service is provided from a number of worldwide locations, with major hubs in London and Sydney, an approach that is seamless, productive and agreeably cost effective for our clients.
Pre-recorded subtitling - Our pre-recorded subtitling service is designed for programmes that are produced in advance of transmission.
The dialogue is transcribed and the copy prepared by our expert subtitlers in accordance with industry Subtitling Codes and any style guides requested by the client. The titles are then colour coded, timed and edited to applicable reading speeds before positioning appropriately on screen.
With offices around the globe, we also provide foreign language subtitles for pre-recorded material.
Re-versioning - Our extensive experience in subtitling qualifies us to reversion existing subtitled programmes and files for broadcast.
Re-versioning demands reviewing and editing an existing subtitling file and rendering it suitable for any medium other than that for which it was originally produced. Using experienced subtitlers, our sophisticated re-versioning service takes into account differences in commercial breaks, slot times and programme durations, as well as other concerns such as language edits.
Text-only - Text-only is a high value / low cost option for clients who need a verbatim account fast. The electronic format of text-only reduces delivery times and is ideal where a transcript needs to be uploaded to the Internet.
We can generate an electronic ‘first pass’ script of a programme in quick turnaround times for our broadcasting and subtitling clients. This is often a requirement when a webcast or broadcast runs unscripted; or when a client needs to compare transmitted dialogue with pre-recorded subtitles.
Web captioning - Our web captioning service adds live or pre-recorded captioning to online presentations created in diverse formats, including Real Player, Windows Media Player or QuickTime. One example of our work in this area is the provision of a captioning service to a live webcast presented online by the Disability Rights Commission.
