Real-time Reporting

Real-time reporting gives clients a live, verbatim record of legal proceedings. This is delivered to clients’ laptops with the LiveNote® software installed. Users are able to create customised annotations and reports, on issues which are specific to their case. Transcripts and annotations are fully searchable across multiple hearing days.

Why use Merrill Legal Solutions?

Using Merrill Legal Solutions’ services and LiveNote® technology, legal teams can typically reduce preparation and proceedings times by up to 25%. Users can also benefit from managing and reviewing large amounts of evidence from their laptops, either in the hearing room or remotely.

Merrill runs its own court reporting training school, ensuring that the highest standards are maintained in all hearings, with a guaranteed 98% real-time accuracy.

For complex proceedings, involving multiple parties or large amounts of evidence, LiveNote® is of particular benefit, particularly where information needs to be shared with team members based in multiple locations.

Merrill is the only provider licensed to provide LiveNote® software outside North America. We provide the necessary training, technical support and equipment to work with our clients throughout the lifecycle of a case.

How does it work?

A trained court reporter converts Speech to Text using specialist IT equipment and LiveNote® software. This is then sent to clients’ laptops so those taking part can view and annotate the transcript of the proceedings as they unfold. Remote users can access the transcript from any location via internet connection.

Who uses this service?

Judges advocates and solicitors preparing for and attending civil and criminal trials, tribunals and arbitrations, public inquiries and other formal legal hearings comprise our key clients.

Merrill’s real-time reporting services have been used in many of the most high profile matters around the world over the last twenty years, and most recently include The Hutton Inquiry, The Inquests into the Deaths of Diana, Princess if Wales, and Dodi Al Fayed, the London terrorists trials, R-v- Commission of the Metropolitan Police (De Menezes trial), C7 in Australia and the Hong Kong Airport Inquiry.
