Speech to Text
Merrill Legal Solutions has developed an innovative, remote STT solution. This is when a stenographer does not attend the event and is based off site. Proceedings are transmitted over a telephone line, using a speaker/conference phone, to the remote reporter. The reporter captures the dialogue using a stenography machine then the text is relayed back to a laptop or screen at the live event or meeting via the internet.
Why use Merrill Legal Solutions?
With the only UK training school for stenographers, our STT writers are trained to capture an accurate record at speeds of 200wpm and more. The training school enables the pool to grow year on year and allows us to assign Speech to Text writers for meetings scheduled throughout the year and also for those all important last minute bookings.
Our remote STT service can be useful, as well as cost effective, especially if it’s hard to find Speech to Text writers in your area as it cuts down on additional expenses like travel costs.
How does it work?
A live, verbatim account of what is being said enables deaf or Hard of Hearing people to participate fully in proceedings and have access to all that is said. Our Speech to Text service provides communication support to participants in an onsite or remote capacity.
With the onsite service, a Merrill Legal Solutions stenographer attends the meeting or event and takes down all the dialogue. Simultaneously, specialist software converts the stenography code into normal English text. The results are displayed immediately on a laptop or large screen, and a fully edited transcript of proceedings can be made available to participants after the event.
