Tape Transcription

Tape Transcription services are provided where a shorthand writer is not present but where parties would like to have a transcript of a hearing that has already taken place.

Why use Merrill Legal Solutions?

As a member of the Tape Transcription Panel, Merrill Legal Solutions is authorised to produce High Court and County Court transcripts from the court audio.

How does it work?

To initiate a tape transcription booking, contact Merrill Legal Solutions to place an order. Once you have done this, you will need to complete court form EX107 (tape transcript request) and fax it to the relevant court centre so that the tapes can be released to us as your nominated transcribers. You should also forward a copy of the form to Merrill so that we have your details and the details of the case on record.

Form EX107 can be downloaded from the ‘forms and guidance’ section of Her Majesty's Court Service website (http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/).

Please note that you will need to contact a different department for judgments from the Court of Appeal or Administrative Court (see Official Contracts).

Who uses this service?

This service is of particular value to parties who are added to an existing action and who wish to have a record of all court proceedings that have preceded their involvement.

A number of our clients also request the service when they wish to review in details a specific hearing date or section of evidence.

Litigants in person find this a cost effective way of obtaining information about hearings and proceeding that affect them without incurring the expense of engaging a shorthand writer for the duration of a long hearing.
